You know how once in a while you hear about someone that goes off their rocker and shoots someone.\u00a0 Sometimes its a disgruntled postal worker and sometimes its a politician like what happened last week in the United States.\u00a0 Then people stand around scratching their\u00a0 heads wondering what happened.\u00a0 Sometimes they say stuff like, ‘he was so quiet I never would have thought’.\u00a0 Others may say, ‘the signs were there for intervention’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Take a look at what happened in Toronto on Tuesday for example.\u00a0 Some character named Nigel Elder ended up in a stand-off with over 50 police officers.\u00a0 According to the Toronto Star, Elder a 35-year-old from Mississauga visited The Big Slice at Yonge and Gerrard Streets at about 6am.\u00a0 It was of course closed, so he returned to his family’s Nissan Altima and the car was surrounded by police, guns drawn.<\/p>\n
The Star\u00a0explain that:<\/p>\n
1. Elder refused to get out of the car, yet his friend in the car with him immediately surrendered to police.<\/p>\n
2. Minutes earlier someone had called 911 saying a man fitting Elder’s description was driving down Yong Street waiving a gun in the air.<\/p>\n
3. Elder himself figures he must have been gesturing to radio music.<\/p>\n
4. Elder was charged with possession of marijuana and driving without a driver’s licence.<\/p>\n
5. Elder tried to bribe police with his $1,ooo watch.<\/p>\n
6. They released Elder on bail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What the *#!@?\u00a0 This guy is a disaster waiting to happen and innocent people are going to get hurt if not killed.\u00a0 Why did he refused to get out of his car? Was he stoned…possibly and likely by the sounds of the situation.\u00a0 Was he being violent by motioning like he had a gun…absolutely!\u00a0 This is an act of terrorism on innocent, unsuspecting Torontonians that happen to be targeted by this clearly troubled man.\u00a0 What was he doing in Toronto at 6am anyway?\u00a0 He was driving without a licence, which means without insurance?\u00a0 What if he had hit someone with his car?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why isn’t the system protecting the innocent?\u00a0 They should keep this guy in jail before he kills someone one.\u00a0 How many illegal things does he have to do, how many laws does he have to break before we realize he has no intention of living within a community since he acts like an unstoppable predator, fake gun and all? How long will it be before that gun gesture with his hand holds a real gun?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since law-abiding Torontonians don’t carry guns and therefore can’t readily defend themselves against a gun-carrying predator, it is the police’s responsibility to make sure that citizens are protected from those that break the law.\u00a0 The police may not have found a gun on Elder, but he had a much more dangerous unregistered weapon – a two thousand pound car.<\/p>\n
For goodness sake, throw him in jail and keep him there before it is too late.\u00a0<\/p>\n
