Every career has skills, experience and networks which you can transfer to a new career. The question is how much of your strengths will be useful in your new career and what will you need to add to your experience to allow you to succeed in a new career. If most or almost all of your experience is industry specific, and even your skills are industry specific you’ll have a challenge changing careers and will take you longer. It is for this reason that getting involved with different organizations, volunteering and having extra-curricular projects is helpful.
